It's Monday again... already... the weekends seem to fly by, the leaves are turning brown and with more and more shops online and on the high street telling me that it's only 78 days until Christmas - that doesn't leave that many fly-by weekends to do my Christmas shopping! Although last time I looked we'd only just entered the month of October... haven't we got Halloween and Guy Fawkes to enjoy first?!
Anyway, the fact that I am starting to organise our company Christmas party and think about what Christmas cards to send to our clients this year must be a sign that the festive season is in nigh!
So, lastest news from our web experts goes a bit like this:
(I wonder how long it will be before eBay brings out it's own VoIP services?)
Ban for eBay VoIP provider
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has been taken a step too far by start-up company Jajah, with the company banned from placing its phone links on eBay.
Jajah had caused a stir at eBay head-quarters by providing a Skype-style connection button to facilitate calls between buyers and sellers direct on eBay, but now faces a ban on the retail forum site.
For eBay the provision of calling links was claimed to violate the site's regulations, which stipulate that all interaction between buyers and sellers is secured and registered by occuring within its marketplace platform.
People using the connection have now been told to stop embedding the link button, but there is not total consensus as to the decision.
Jajah is contesting the ban, looking to poll users of the VoIP service to determine how many found it useful and wished to continue contacting the other party in their purchase through the Jajah-enabled link.
The start-up claimed that it too could uphold security by registering contact, but stated caution: "We don't want to upset eBay, nor do we want our users to get their listings deleted."
